What the installer does
Windows
- Delivered as a standalone setup program (.exe) for x64.
- Installs for the current user only, so administrator rights are normally not needed.
- Supports unattended install with
--silent. - Declared install modes: interactive and silent.
- Registers the
postman://link protocol. - Upgrades install over the existing version.
macOS
- Delivered as a download whose format the URL does not state for Intel (x64) and Apple silicon (ARM64).
- Installs the app
Postman.appinto the Applications folder. - The app updates itself, so it may be newer than the version Homebrew lists.
- On uninstall, Homebrew asks the app to quit.
- A full “zap” removal also deletes up to 11 support, cache and preference locations in your home folder.
